Alot of our freedoms as a human being have been taken away from us through some laws of man, but a few things cannot be taken away from us, thankfully, because we are a multitude of diverse beings. Everyone should and does have the right to freedom of thought, conscience, beliefs, and yes, even religion. These simple human rights have throughout time caused a separation of people to fall into different factions which leads to hate and dislike of our fellow human family because they cannot come to an agreement on our freedoms, and I don't think we should have to, but we should be tolerant of one another regardless of our beliefs. I think we should try to understand that we are all entitled to whatever we choose without being ridiculed and respect one another regardless of the choices we make or our difference in beliefs or opinions.
Without letting religion or beliefs get in the way of us all being a human race, we can still get along and work towards changing other injustices in this world. Sure we may not all agree with each others religion, spirituality, beliefs, or even what someone simply has to say, but because we may not agree does that mean they are not entitled to their freedoms? NO! I think we should all recognize we are all equally magnificent in different areas. "if you judge people you have no time to love them"... To hate or throw away a person because of their beliefs is a form of racism and discrimination.
Now, because I have the right, I believe some people plant, and some water but ultimately it is God who causes the growth. When we criticize others, we are placing ourselves in the position as judge and pronouncing judgment on them when we may not know or understand all details of why someone is doing what they are doing. Of course issues of morality and ethics is a different ball game, of course if someone murders someone then yes they are wrong!
Truth can come from many people non religious, religious, believers, non believers, and so on... truth is truth. No religion has 100% truth, but I do think some of them have been around so long because there is some divine truth in all of them, sometimes you just have to sift through.
I personally do believe in an absolute truth, including the existence of God and the right and wrong established by his commandments. The way I see it is we are all children of God and no one is excluded. All of us may be in the world but all of us are not of this world, and we all have that choice.
We must stand up for truth, even while we practice tolerance and respect for beliefs and ideas different from our own and for the people who hold them. That doesn't mean we have to respect or tolerate wrong behavior. Behavior not rooted in love is usually wrong.
Though I do stand up for absolute truth which is love and peace we are cast as combatants in the war between truth and error, there is no middle ground.
Point is, we should be tolerant of others with different beliefs without having to compromise our own.
